Sunday 

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. – The NHRA Northeast Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series wrapped up their 2014 season at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park with nine drivers taking home wins led by Kyle Cultrera of Eliot, Maine in Comp Eliminator.

Cultrera drove his '32 Bantam to the win with a 9.116 second, 121.64 mph pass defeating Joe Carnasciale of Cranston, R.I., who fouled at the line. This marks his second event victory in consecutive years at historic “E-town” as it is known to many racers and fans.

Joining Cultrera in the winners circle were local racers Todd Hoven, Milltown, N.J., in Stock Eliminator and Kenneth Moses of Colonia, N.J., in the MXI/Magnaflux Top Dragster presented by Select Performance. Hoven made his way through seven rounds to defeat Donald Pires, Somerset, Mass., in the final while Moses grabbed the Top Dragster win by defeating Rick Bell, Merrimack, N.H.

Succasunna, N.J., resident Richard Biebel drove his dragster to a 8.943 second, 169.78 mph pass to grab the Super Comp win. Mike Sawyer of Leominster, Mass., defeated Earl Nichols, Wilmington, Del., in the Super Gas final. Mike’s father Ray was also victorious at this event last year in Super Gas.

Mike Giuliano of Wantagh, N.Y., grabbed the win in Super Stock by defeating the division champion Peter Biondo, Maspeth, N.Y. The Super Comp trophy went to Richard Biebel, Succasunna, N.J., while Tom Hill, Huntington, N.Y., took his '56 Bel Air to the Super Street win. The MXI/Magnaflux Top Sportsman presented by Select Performance win went to Michael Cerro of Mineola, N.Y., and Mark Wakem, Poland, Maine, powered his '14 Arctic Cat to a 8.239 second, 155.40 mph pass to grab the Ultimax Pro Stock Snowmobile win.

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. – Day two is in the books and the fields are set for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Qualifying was finalized in Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and the remaining classes in competition.

Friday 

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - The NHRA Northeast Division is at Old Bridge Township Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series this weekend featuring 200 mph Top Dragster and Top Sportsman cars.

This weekend’s event is one of seven in the division and one of 44 that take place throughout the year from coast to coast with nearly 400 of the best racers from the region looking for valuable points leading toward national and divisional championships. 

Racers made qualifying and time trial runs today that also included the division’s MXI/Magnaflux/Select Performance Top Dragster and Top Sportsman series which made one qualifying run and will continue qualifying Saturday at 11:30 a.m. 

Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday with racing scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. with time trials.  Tickets are $10 Saturday and $10 on Sunday for adults. ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 1 Points Meet marks the conclusion of the Northeast Division season at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park on Sept. 5-7. The event is one of seven in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northeast division and one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  The division’s MXI/Magnaflux Top Sportsman and Top Dragster Series’ presented by Select Performance will also run in conjunction with the event as will Pro Stock Snowmobile.

Gates at Raceway Park open at 8 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Qualifying and time trials start at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Comp Eliminator will qualify Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. with eliminations beginning at 4 p.m. Top Dragster and Top Sportsman will have qualify on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 11:30 p.m. with eliminations at 3 and 4:15 p.m. Top Dragster and Top Sportsman continue eliminations on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Pro Stock Snowmobiles will also be in competition on Saturday with two qualifying sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  Eliminations will be on Saturday with round one set for 1:45 p.m.

Tickets at Raceway Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event are $10 Friday, $10 Saturday and $10 Sunday. Children 6 to 11 years old are $5 each day and children 5 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

WHERE: Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Englishtown, New Jersey. Track is located at 230 Pension Road in Englishtown. Take exit 9 off the New Jersey Turnpike to Route 18. Go south to Englishtown exit, Route 527, and proceed to Pension Road. Go left and Old Bridge Township Raceway Park is a quarter-mile on the left.

BONUS  PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2014 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA’s seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2015 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series’ eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2015 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning regional and division teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a “double up” bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2015 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
